Abstract
Tourette syndrome (TS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is characterized by multiple motor and vocal tics, which are involuntary and repetitive movements and vocalizations. My inquiry aims to investigate the effectiveness of music therapy as a complementary treatment for Tourette's syndrome patients. My viewpoint about the effectiveness of music therapy (MT) will adopt a mixed-methods approach that combines quantitative measures of symptom improvement with qualitative data on patient experiences and perceptions of music therapy (Saint Pierre, 2021; Bradt et al., 2013). I must engage in ethical research practices and critically examine my positionality and biases when utilizing artistic methods (Prince, 2022; Lessard et al., 2021). In light of this, I will incorporate different themes that enable me, as a researcher, to achieve this objective. Finally, I will address the literature on music therapy interventions that have not attained cultural and practical considerations.
